Submission workflows overview

Compare NetTree directory, guest post, comment, and content publish workflows for manual link building and submission tracking.

Submission workflows overview

NetTree’s backlink submission workflow engine routes each queue item to a dedicated screen based on source kind and domain. Every workflow shares the same evidence principle: human submit, then track in Submission Tracker.

Who this is for

Teams running manual link building tools who want structured drafts without automated outreach or auto-submit.

What you will learn

  • Four workflow types and when to use each
  • Shared step pattern from queue to Tracker
  • Skip, reject, and reopen behavior
  • Where strategy guides differ from product docs

Workflow types

WorkflowPathBest for
Directory/app/workflows/directoryProduct directories, launch lists, SaaS listings
Guest post/app/workflows/guest-postEditorial pitches and follow-ups
Comment/app/workflows/commentContextual blog comments (link-off by default)
Content publish/app/workflows/content-publishOwned channels — Tumblr, GitHub, Medium, etc.

Deep dives:

Shared workflow pattern

  A[Queue item] --> B[Review context]
  B --> C[Generate / edit draft]
  C --> D[Open submit page]
  D --> E[Human submit]
  E --> F[Mark Submitted]
  F --> G[Add Live URL]
  G --> H[Tracker row]
  1. Review context — site profile, destination ops remark, fit
  2. Draft — AI-assisted JSON fields you can edit and copy
  3. Submit page — open destination form or editor (extension optional)
  4. Human submit — you perform final action on third-party site
  5. Mark Submitted — records activity in queue
  6. Live URL — paste public listing when available
  7. Tracker — Operation + Link columns reflect queue and verification

Workflow lists vs site queue

ViewPathShows
Workflow queue/app/workflows/directory (etc.)Items ready for that workflow type across sites
Site queue/app/sites/[id]/queueAll destinations for one site

Both link to the same underlying sitesourcequeue records.

Drafts and copy

Workflow drafts store structured JSON (titles, descriptions, pitch body, comment text). Use Copy actions per field — NetTree does not auto-paste into third-party sites except via NetTree Assist preview fill.

Draft generation consumes AI draft quota on your plan.

Skip and reopen

ActionWhereEffect
SkipWorkflow workbenchDeprioritize; queue → skipped; Tracker shows Skipped
ReopenSubmission TrackerRestores skipped (or sync-rejected) items to draft_ready

There is no separate Reject button in workflows. Tracker Rejected usually appears when queue sync maps a Lost backlink to rejected — not from a manual reject action.

Task Center hooks

Completing drafts, submissions, and matrix publishes can award Task Center points. Points encourage cadence — they do not replace verified Live links. See Task Center.

Strategy guides (marketing)

Product docs explain screens. Methodology lives separately:

Common questions

Which workflow type is assigned automatically? Based on link source kind, interaction mode, and domain rules in NetTree routing logic. Content-publish platforms route to owned-channel workflow.

Can I run workflows without the extension? Yes. Copy drafts manually or use Quick Open for submit pages.

Does Mark Submitted run verification? Not by itself. Verification starts when you record a backlink URL (owned channel) or import/recheck. See Link verification.
